Wuxi Town, situated in the south of Luxi County, is at the confluence of the Yuanjiang River and the Donghe River, with Chuanxi Township of Chenxi County to the east, Shaojiwan Town of Yuanling County to the north, Pushi Town the south and Xixi Town to the west.

There are the Waxiang people of the Miao ethnic group in Wuxi who have their own unique language, clothing and customs. The Waxiang people hold a grand ceremony after autumn every year to worship the “God of Cereals”. Wuxi Town is mostly mountainous and hilly with beautiful scenery and rich tourism resources. Tianqiao Mountain Natural Reserve boasts grand canyons and the main peak Juntingjie with the highest point of 781.9 meters above sea level. Attracted by the picturesque Yuanjiang River, Qu Yuan, a poet of Chu State during the Warring States Period, once collected Wa folk songs by wading across the river. The Tieshan River Ferry Scenic Spot is a precious former site of the chain bridge during the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression. In addition, there is “Zuotang Opera” with the characteristics of the Waxiang people, which is an ancient performance form of “Chenhe High-pitched Tune”.
